Am so glad it's Friday.....it almost didn't want to come fast enough, but hey, it's finally here. Okay my people, i need some help with my hair oooo, sigh!!! I cut off almost all my hair living about an inch on December 10th, 2007 and i have left my hair all natural since then which is about a year and half or so.
I have been loving the fact that i went natural even though it was so difficult dealing with my hair at the beginning. Most of my siblings n friends didn't support the idea of me going natural but i did.........which means i had to stay committed to being natural or i will get laughed at if i decided to change my hair. Since then i have learn to be innovative with my hair and the styles i wear.
I changed the hair products i use when i cut my hair and everything seems to be working good for me, but for the past couple of months, i have noticed that my hair n scalp looks dry/get dry easily regardless of what hair products i use. Now, am beginning to think that maybe i need to use different hair products or do something different.
I usually use Pantene shampoo and leave-in conditioner which am not sure is the best shampoo/conditioner for natural hair; use Softsheen care free curls and Softsheen moisturizing finishing lotion for my curls; use Softsheen revitalizing mousse and luster curl texturizer to make my hair softer (because my natural hair is as hard as it can get); use organic olive oil moisturizing hair lotion often, and hair jam sometimes.
I usually wash my hair every weekend but sometimes, i wash it every two weeks depending on the kind of hair style i have on and how busy i am. Lately, my hair has turned into something else, and i know it's time to do something about it but i honestly do not know what to do.
If you have helpful information about how i could care better for my hair.....you could email it to me @ beyond_lifepursuit@hotmail.com or you could just write it as a comment. Also, If you know any blog about natural hair or bloggers that have natural hair and talks about it on their blogs, kindly let me know. So, blogsville........please come to my rescue.
Y'all have fun and enjoy your weekend........be safe!!!!!!!
Kisses,
Beyond

Check out http://blackgirllonghair.blogspot.com/ for great advice and tips on how to look after natural hair. That site has been a great help to me. I also cut off my permed hair about 18 months ago, and now starting afresh.
I would recommend you switch from your current shampoos and conditioners if you have dry hair. Many of those products contain chemicals that do more harm than good. They might coat your hair with moisture when you wash, but it soon fades away.
Try Aubrey Organics Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioners. My hair used to be very dry and brittle but it feels great now.
And also, moisturise your hair and scalp daily with natural oils like Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil or Olive Oil. These are far more helpful than the unnatural stuff. If your hair is really dry I recommend trying Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Hair Cream or the Honey and Olive one.
The products I've recommended are all 100% natural so they don't contain petroleum, parabens or other artificial nasties that wreak havok with black natural hair.

Deep condition your hair (WITHOUT HEAT) at least twice a month. Try to do it more often if you can.
If you are on facebook, I would recommend joining the "Natural Hair" group. It's packed with tips and advice.
All the best!
all the best with the hair, wish i could help..
thanks everyone, i really appreciate your help.....would check out your recommendations
Hey Beyond, it might be a good idea to change your shampoo - maybe it's left some build-up on your hair and scalp as you've been using it for a while. Try using a good clarifying shampoo (I think Nexxus does a good one) once (don't make it a habit, as clarifying shampoos can strip your hair of its important natural oils), then switch to a new shampoo, preferably something forumlated for natural hair. I also love NaturalGurl's suggestion on all-natural/essential oils (coconut oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil, amla, olive oil). Other good natural moisturisers are shea butter (particularly good for natural hair) and aloe vera. I am currently having the same situation with my natural hair (dry and a bit dull), so I am going to try and step things up with all-natural moisturisers and possibly some product changes too.
